What is Kickstartz?
KickStartz is an intense 3 day event bringing techies, designers, marketers, and business folks together to create businesses, projects, and work through their ideas!
What is a KickStartz weekend like?
The weekend is part zen, part rock concert, and 100% fun! It starts Thursday night at 6pm and ends Saturday at 9pm, the hours in between are up to the attendees. KickStartz provides facilities, food, and a T-shirt. After that, its really up to the attendees, their drive and ambition to get things done.
What is on the agenda?
The only agenda is when we will have guest speakers and when the food will be available. Other than that, the agenda is entirely up to the attendees.
Do you really expect to launch businesses in a weekend?
Yes that is the premise of the event, although it truly depends on the attendees, their ideas, motivation, and team collaboration. In fact the general goal is to launch between 5 and 10 businesses during a KickStartz weekend.
What about details like legal, ownership, members etc?
The team members working on the products will determine these issues during the weekend.
Do I really need to be there for 3 days?
Absolutely not. Although there will be lots of activity during the three day event, attendees are encouraged to come and go as they please. We all have families.
What happens once the weekend ends?
Hopefully you'll walk away with a number of new friends and contacts. In addition, we hope that you continue to work with your teams on your business ideas and make them successful.
Should I be worried about people taking my ideas? Why aren't we being asked to sign NDAs?
The idea of these events is to get business ideas to market. We assume you are attending to do just that. However, if you have an idea you are worried about being stolen, its best to keep it to yourself. Keep in mind that this event is designed to empower the attendees to bring their ideas to fruition. Inevitably the idea has to be pitched to someone in order to bring it forward regardless of if its at a KickStartz event or not. An idea will only ever be an idea if the right people don't come together to build it.
Another issue with NDAs other than the fact that they are not enforceable is that the event will be streaming live over the internet as well as being taped for PodCasts and potentially covered by the media. These broadcasts would make it impossible to enforce the NDAs.
Who Runs KickStartz?
KickStartz is run by the community supporting entrepreneurship. Every weekend has a facilitator that is approved by KickStartz.
Is KickStartz a Company?
No, KickStartz is a not a company but is administered by HouseOfMarc Solutions based in Boynton Beach Florida.
